Artist’s Statement
My work seeks to capture the gap between presence and absence. The sculptures echo a concurrent process of fracture and repair, reflecting a broad spectrum between the body’s transience and its durability. The works articulate symbiotic interrelations between human corporeality, geological phenomena, and stainless-steel support systems. Their convergence emerges through the subversion of roles and mutual dependence. Marked by truncated, abstract anatomical features, the sculptural bodies oscillate between the organic and the artificial. Each sculpture is either installed on or sustained by a rehabilitative apparatus, functioning as an aid for the body. The search for a motif that holds both absence and wholeness resonate throughout the creative process. The point of departure is rooted in physical failure, and the objects are at times construed as signs of healing. The work centers on transformation, inviting a layered interpretation, prompting questions and dualities that reconsider the limits of mental and physical capacities.
